Which government serves your address

If you live inside the Town of San Tan Valley boundary, you have both a town government and Pinal County. If you live in the unincorporated San Tan Valley area, Pinal County is your local government.

The Town incorporated recently and is still phasing in services. Today it handles building permits inside town limits, sign permits, its own Town Code and Zoning Code, a town sales tax, public records for town records, and traffic calming and signals inside town limits.

Council meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Meetings stream live on the Town's YouTube channel and agendas are posted at santanvalley.gov.

The county serves everyone in the San Tan Valley area for many services: the Sheriff's Office, animal control and dog licensing, code enforcement, elections, property taxes, the library district, courts, public health, and disposal services. For unincorporated residents, the county is the local government for all services.

The county keeps local offices at the San Tan Valley Complex (31505 N Schnepf Rd): the Recorder's Office, the Assessor's Office, and the Treasurer's Office.

Who do I call about a code violation?

If you are inside town limits, you may contact either the Town at 520-216-5702 or Pinal County Code Enforcement at 520-509-3555. The county handles the inspection and enforcement either way, under an agreement with the Town. In the unincorporated area, call Pinal County.

Do I need a town business license?

Only if your business operates inside town limits. The program launches October 1, 2026, with a grace period for existing businesses. Our Business License guide walks through

Who do I call about a pothole or a street light?

Inside town limits, traffic signals and street lights are the Town's responsibility, and traffic calming requests go to the Town Engineer — 520-216-5702. Which roads the Town maintains versus the county is still being confirmed; we will update this page as soon as we know.

Where do I get a dog license?

Pinal County Animal Care & Control, 520-509-3500, for all residents regardless of the town boundary.
