San Tan Valley In-Progress & Future Roadway Projects


Pinal County Public Works plans their county wide projects in a five-year transportation plan.  The following projects below were approved as part of the transportation plan for the San Tan Valley area.  The numbers next to each project number are shown on the map below.


  1. Germann Road: Meridian Dr to Ironwood Drive - New roadway connection; 2-lane facility; Under Construction (Completion Summer '20)
  2. Magma Rd: Gary Road (Edwards Rd) to Hunt Hwy; New roadway connection; 2-lane facility; Summer '20
  3. Gantzel Rd: Queen Creek Wash; Pedestrian Improvement; Under Construction (Completion Summer '20)
  4. Meridian Dr: Right Rd to SR24 (ADOT); New roadway planned 3-lane facility; Joint project with Queen Creek; Spring '21 (Germann to SR24)
  5. Schnepf Rd: Auxiliary Lanes between Castlegate Rd & Queen Creek Wash; Summer '20
  6. Johnson Ranch Roundabout: Golf Club Drive; Intersection Improvement; Summer '20
  7. Hunt Hwy (Old): Wild Horse Dr to Pioneer Path; New concrete dip crossing due to pavement failures; FY 20/21
  8. Kenworthy Rd: Germann Rd to Pima Rd; Rehabilitation of existing 2-lane facility; FY 20/21
  9. Traffic Signal: Combs & Schnepf; Design 2020
  10. Traffic Signals: Empire Blvd & Spring Valley Pkwy; Hunt Hwy & Spring Valley Pkwy; Design 2020
  11. Gary Rd: Riggs Rd to Empire Rd; Widening from 2-lane to 5-lane facility; Joint project with Queen Creek


  12. Kenworthy Rd: Chandler Heights to Combs Rd; New roadway construction through Queen Creek wash; FY 21/22
  13. Hunt Hwy Phase 5: Magma Rd to Arizona Farms Rd; Widening from 2-lane to 5-lane facility; Includes realignment; Construction FY 22/23 (Tentative)
  14. Skyline Dr: Charbray Dr to Gantzel Rd; New Roadway Connection; FY 22/23
  15. Combs Rd Channel: Flood Control District Project; Under Design
  16. Empire at Pegasus Channel: Flood Control District Program; Under Design
  17. Roberts/Thompson Channel: Flood Control District Program; Under Design
  18. North South Alignment: New Freeway Alignment (ADOT)
