NFL investigating whether Patriots used deflated footballs

The NFL is investigating whether the New England Patriots deflated footballs that were used in their AFC championship game victory over the Indianapolis Colts. "We are looking into it," league spokesman Brian McCarthy wrote in an email to The Associated Press on Monday. "We do not have anything further to add at this point."

Mountain Vista Middle School’s lady Wolverines are having a great season. The team is 7-2 after defeating Cactus Canyon on Valentine’s Day.  
Paladin Sports Outreach has released details for the two major fund-raising events it will host in 2011. The 2nd Annual Taters for Tots Charity Softball Tournament, to be held Saturday, May 14th at Riverview Sports Complex in Mesa, will raise funds for the organization’s free youth baseball and softball instructional clinics in 2011. The event will also feature a major donation drive for canned food and gently-used clothing and sporting equipment. The food and clothes will be donated to the Phoenix Homeless Shelter, while the sports equipment will be refurbished and distributed by Paladin Sports Outreach to San Tan area youth and organizations who serve local youth. Individuals who donate will be eligible for prizes.

All 72 participants showed up and gave generously at the second annual Oasis “Rally for the Cure” golf tournament. The Rally raised more than $5000.00 on March 17th 2013. This year, some of the funds raised through participants and sponsors, paid for mammogram screenings through the Breast Assured Foundation and their on-site mammogram unit. Additional funds will be sent to the Susan G. Komen organization both nationally and locally in support of breast cancer research.

Last night our boys’ basketball team opened up state tournament play with a resounding victory over the visiting Prescott Badgers 80-53. With this win we now move on to round 2 of the tournament by traveling to Nogales tomorrow, Saturday February 16th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The Poston Butte Athletic Department is sponsoring a Spirit Bus for students and their families to watch the game. The cost of the ride is $10.00 which does not include the entry fee and you must bring your school I.D.
