On Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 a Pinal County Sheriff’s detective, assigned to the Persons Crimes Bureau, received a call from a citizen who reported Tyler Kost (age 18 from San Tan Valley and a student at Poston Butte High School) had sexually assaulted, sexually abused and molested five teenage girls in the San Tan Valley area.
On April 15th, 12 NEWS had asked for communities across the state, to submit a photo and a reason to feature their community on the station.

Today, Dec 10th, started off as any ordinary day for Amber Murphy. Prevent Blindness America is pleased to announce that San Tan Valley resident Meikayla Mixon, age 12, has been voted “Most Beautiful Eyes” for the state of Arizona. Through the national contest by Prevent Blindness America, Mixon received the highest number of online votes between Aug. 1-31, 2013.
Mixon and all state winners will receive a free pair of Real Kids Shades (RKS) sunglasses and a copy of the new book, “Jacob’s Eye Patch” by Beth Kobliner Shaw and Jacob Shaw. All state winners advance to the final round of judging for a chance to win a $10,000 educational scholarship from Marchon Eyewear. County crews are preparing to apply chip seal to several roads in the San Tan Heights area. The road resurfacing work is anticipated to last from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14.
A protective rock and emulsion seal will be applied on the road surface to extend the life of the roads. The application of this material is highly weather-dependent with ideal conditions taking place in the spring and fall.

In 2004, Maricopa County’s Parks and Recreation Department began implementing San Tan Mountain Regional Park’s Master Plan. The Master Plan called for a main park entry, and proposed two secondary trailheads to provide additional access to the park. In response to public demand regarding access, and the need for interconnection with local and regional trail systems, the plan identified one trailhead in the northern portion of the park, and another along the southern finger.
Early Sunday morning, a bar fight at the Gym Bar, 2510 E. Hunt Highway, led to the bar manager being assaulted and a 56-year-old female bar patron hospitalized with serious head injuries. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.
