Deputies Save San Tan Valley Man’s Life

A 63?year?old San Tan Valley man is alive thanks to two Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputies who responded first on scene with the right tools and training.

On 9/22/2012, at approximately 12:12 a.m., two deputies responded to a home in the 24000 block of North Mohave Lane in the Magic Ranch sub division, San Tan Valley, on a report the home owner was not breathing.

Once on scene the deputies located the unresponsive 63?year?old man and immediately began life saving measures. One of the deputies retrieved an automatic external defibrillator (AED) while the other began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Deputies, Detectives and Victims Work Together to Solve Rash of San Tan Valley Burglaries

During the past few months, there have been several burglaries reported throughout San Tan Valley. While investigating many of the burglary cases, victims described the same possible suspect vehicle and description of those committing the crimes.

Victims reported having items such as credit cards, cameras, video games, computers, checkbooks, cell phones, prescription medications, jewelry and other items. Patrol deputies collected evidence from each of the scenes and talked with victims and neighbors to learn anything they could to help solve these crimes.

Hunt Hwy, San Tan Valley 85143) looking for donors.  With all of the devastating events that have happened over the last year, the Red Cross is in desperate need and needs your help.  The supply of type O negative blood at the American Red Cross has dropped to critical levels. Type O negative blood is always in high demand because it can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations.

DIRECTV and Viacom Reach Agreement

DIRECTV has reached a new long-term agreement with Viacom to restore 17 channels (including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, BET, Spike, CMT, TV Land and ten other channels) that Viacom had taken away from DIRECTV customers on July 10. Viacom has returned all affected networks.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

District 2 Supervisor Cheryl Chase's Response to Issue in San Tan Heights

 

“Today my office became aware of an incident that occurred last night in San Tan Heights.  Neighbors reported what appeared to be raw sewage in the water features outside the residential community.  I am concerned about this issue and have spoken directly with Johnson Utilities in an effort to learn more.  The utility company has assured me that raw sewage was not released and they are working with state environmental officials to resolve the problem.

CUSD budget override to appear on November ballot

San Tan Foothills High School, part of the Coolidge Unified School District, is one of the schools that may be affected by the budget override.

Coolidge Unified School District is re­questing a 10 percent Maintenance and Operations budget increase that would increase taxes for property owners within the district and increase available funds for the 2013-2014 school year, offi­cials said.

The website CyberMonday.com, created by Shop.org, claims to have the best online deals from more than 700 online retailers. (Shop.org is a division of the National Retail Federation).

While many deals last longer than just one day, on Monday the website will offer hourly specials. If you want sneak peeks at those, you can sign up for email alerts. They’re also to be announced Sunday. Or, you could simply sit at your desk all day Monday and troll the site.

According to Shop.org’s “eHoliday Survey,” nearly eight in 10 (78.4 percent) retailers will have special promotions on Cyber Monday.

San Tan Valley's first indoor bounce play house has had to move their open date from Tuesday August 20th to Friday August 23rd but the slight delay will be well worth the wait.

Daughters of the American Revolution to host tea honoring 1912’s Miss Arizona Territory

On Dec. 10 the Desert Wells Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will host an Arizona Centennial Tea hon­oring LaVera Ramsay Jennings who, in 1912, was the last young woman (before statehood) to be named Miss Arizona Territory. The Desert Wells Chapter meets in Queen Creek.

Decision postponed on Johnson Utilities rates

The Arizona Corporation Commission has delayed a decision on a rate increase request by Johnson Utilities.

The commission was scheduled to reach a decision Aug. 11 but instead opted to hold an additional open meeting and further discuss the request at the next meeting, a media spokesman for the commission said.
“The commission spent most of the day [Thursday] deliberating the merits of the company’s request,” said Garry Hays, attorney for Johnson Utilities. “After much discussion, the commission opted to hold another meeting in September to finalize their decision.”
