The 3 Best Ways to Enjoy Labor Day with Arizona State Parks and Trails

The 3 Best Ways to Enjoy Labor Day with Arizona State Parks and Trails

  1. Take a road trip! Several state parks are just a quick drive away and are waiting for you to enjoy. Head north to Red Rock State Park in Sedona for picnic and hiking fun, and keep your eyes open for wildlife sharing the park. Drive to Payson to see Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, where you can hike below the world’s largest natural travertine bridge and picnic above it. If history is more your speed, then check out Jerome State Historic Park and learn about mining life in the early 1900s (plus, check out the funky town of Jerome just above the park).
  2. Go camping! If your Labor Day is a full weekend of fun, set up camp at one of these amazing state park destinations and use all three days to relax, explore, and enjoy. Lyman Lake State Park in St. John’s has cool breezes, a huge lake for water fun, and hiking trails with a touch of history. Float the days away on the Colorado River at your pick of Lake Havasu, Cattail Cove, Buckskin Mountain, or River Island state parks. Or head south to Patagonia Lake State Park, where you can lounge on the white sand beach, fish, watch birds, or head out on the boat every day.
  3. Explore a cave! Kartchner Caverns State Park is a testament to preservation and beauty you don’t want to miss, and there are still summer savings on cave tours, camping, and cabins until October 31. Visit the “Best Cave in the USA” and see what’s hiding beneath the Whetstone Mountains. You’ll be amazed!

Make a reservation today to squeeze in one more park-cation before summer comes to a close!
