Cardinals release WR Floyd after DUI arrest

Michael Floyd

Floyd, who was scheduled to be a free agent after the season, struggled on the field this year.

The first-round pick by the Cardinals in 2012, had 33 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns this season. Those were well off his 2015 stats, when he overcame early injury problems to catch 52 passes for 849 yards.

Scottsdale police arrested Floyd shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday after he was found blacked out in the driver's seat of his running car at the intersection of Camelback Road and Goldwater Boulevard, which is west of Scottsdale Road on the west side of Scottsdale Fashion Square.

According to the police report, an officer was on patrol when he noticed Floyd's black Cadillac Escalade stopped in the left turn lane. He didn't move when the light turned green, police said. The light went through its cycle and turned green to turn left and again Floyd didn't move, according to the police report.

Floyd, 27, booked on suspicion of DUI impaired to the slightest degree, DUI BAC over 0.08, obstructing a roadway and failure to obey a police officer.

He was released just before 5 a.m., according to Officer Kevin Watts of the Scottsdale Police Department.
