Youth Soccer Program Coming to San Tan Valley

stv-clubsports

Have kids interested in playing soccer? Tired of driving to Gilbert, Mesa or Chandler to get your kids into an organized club setting? Then hold on to the goal posts, a new youth soccer club has come to San Tan Valley and they are eager to work with you and your family.

Club Sports AZ was founded by the Magestro Family. A family of educators and soccer players they have dedicated their lives to helping communities be the best they can. As a family, they have always focused on the youth through sports programs, foster care, and mentoring youth at risk. Over the years they've seen firsthand how sports can contribute to improving youth's physical and psychological health. By promoting mutual respect and tolerance, sports teach important social and interpersonal skills, all effective tools keeping them from falling into a cycle of depression, violence, crime and drug use.

The founder of Club Sports AZ, Stephanie Magestro, grew up playing soccer and has been coaching recreational soccer for the past 20 years. She married, Yeniel Bermudez, former captain of the Cuban National/Olympic Soccer team, who runs a soccer academy, Bermudez Fútbol Academy, focusing on helping players at the highest of levels reach their goals and make their dreams come true. Let's just say that soccer runs pretty deep in this family.

"Soccer is our life and we want to inspire as many little ones to play as possible."

Stephanie Magestro

In 2017, the Magestro family packed up and moved from Alaska to Chandler, AZ.  A couple years later they moved to San Tan Valley. While Stephanie has been coaching recreational soccer in Chandler since her return to Arizona, she couldn't be more excited to establish this club in San Tan Valley.

"When we designed Club Sports AZ we had one thing in mind, FAMILY FIRST," said Stephanie Magestro. "The program is setup to allow parents with multiple children playing soccer, to spend more time with their family. No more driving one child to one location and another somewhere else. All siblings will play all their games at the same time, same day, and at the same location."

The program itself is designed as a developmental program and is dedicated to building players' skills while having fun. "Even though this is a recreational program we pride ourselves on the curriculum that has been developed so that as players grow so do their skills," said Stephanie.

So who can play and how do you sign up?
The program is open to children between the ages of 3 – 12. It is a co-ed league, so all are welcome. You can register at www.clubsportsaz.com - anytime from now until September 24th for the Fall season.

**Since Club Sports AZ is new to San Tan Valley, they are offering the Early Bird Registration price for the entire Fall season.**

Cost:

  • Early Bird Registration Fee $160 - being offered for the entire Fall Season!
  • Registration Fee $180
  • Late Registration $200

Where will the games/practices be held?
All Games will be held at San Tan Foothills High School, 1255 W Silverdale Rd. San Tan Valley, AZ 85142.
Coaches will choose a location for the week's practice. Practices will be around the area of the school that the player attends. Coaches will reach out a week before games start to introduce themselves and let parents know when and where practice will be. A one-hour practice before every game on Saturdays will also take place, in case the kids are unable to make the weekly practice. There will be 8 games and 16 practices each season.

There will be three seasons each year.

For 2022-2023, the seasons are as follows:

  • Fall Session: September 24th-November 19th
  • Winter Session: January 14th-February 25th
  • Spring Session: April 1st-May 20th

During registration, parents are asked if they'd like to volunteer to coach. "Unlike many clubs that just ask for volunteers and that's that we support our coaches throughout the entire season," said Stephanie. "We provide our coaches with training and a curriculum to follow with weekly trainings."

"Our vision is simple. We want to become a program that will change the lives of its members and ultimately have a powerful positive impact on our San Tan Valley community."
