San Tan Valley Walmart to Celebrate Grand Reopening May 12th

The renovation includes a number of innovations and expansions aimed at improving convenience and customer service for shoppers.

The centerpiece of the remodel: a 16-foot-high, 8-foot-wide, bright orange Pickup Tower that is changing the way people shop. The tower is conveniently placed at the front of the store and functions like a giant vending machine: customers can shop on Walmart.com and select the “pickup” option at checkout. When the customer comes to the store, they simply scan the barcode that was sent to their smartphone. The items – already packaged – are sent down a chute and appear on a conveyer belt seconds later. From start to finish, the pick-up process takes less than a minute.

The San Tan Valley Supercenter is among the first Walmart locations in Arizona to feature the Pickup Tower, which is now up and running for customers’ convenience. Additional improvements to the store include:

• State-of-the-art electronics department with interactive displays
• All new paint, flooring and signage
• LED lighting throughout the store
• Expanded customer service, including additional self-checkout lanes
• Redesigned produce and home goods sections
• Renovated bathrooms with new fixtures

“We’re so excited to be among the first stores in Arizona to offer the convenience and ease of Walmart’s brand new Pickup Towers,” said store manager Thera Munoz. “Walmart is always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience for customers, and that’s what we’ve done with this floor-to-ceiling remodel. We look forward to introducing our San Tan Valley customers to all of the improvements at their local Walmart.”

Community Celebration

To celebrate the completion of the San Tan Valley Supercenter remodel, the store is throwing a party for its customers on Saturday, May 12, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

The ceremony will include a special appearance by America’s Got Talent finalist Evie Clair, who will be on-hand to perform the National Anthem. A number of vendors will be on-site serving refreshments and samples, and BMX stunt riders will put on a show for guests, courtesy of Monster Energy. Walmart also will offer a number of grand re-opening specials and savings throughout the weekend.
