As the Arizona summer heatwave intensifies, the San Tan Valley Veteran Center is taking action. Announced on July 26th, the center will be opening a Cooling Center on August 1st. Designed to provide relief from the relentless heat, the new facility is set to offer much-needed respite to community members braving the sweltering summer days.

Situated at 5764 East Hunt Highway in San Tan Valley, the Cooling Center will be filled with a suite of amenities to ensure a comfortable and secure atmosphere for all. Operating from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, the center aims to safeguard the community's well-being during these extreme weather events. To reach out, the contact number is 520-759-7009.

"At the Cooling Center, visitors can find a haven from the blistering heat," said John Meyer, the Center's Director. "Our goal is to provide a range of cooling amenities to keep our community members safe, hydrated, and comfortable."

The Cooling Center will boast a spacious, fully air-conditioned facility, providing a refreshing escape from the soaring temperatures outside. To prevent dehydration, free cold water stations will be strategically located throughout the venue. Designated relaxation zones, equipped with comfortable seating, will enable visitors to unwind. And for those looking for a distraction, entertainment options for all ages, including board games, reading materials, and fun activities, will be available.

The San Tan Valley Veteran Center stresses that vulnerable individuals, including seniors, pregnant women, young children, and those with health conditions, should particularly utilize this important community resource.

But it's not just humans who are welcome at the Cooling Center. Recognizing that pets too suffer in the heat, the center opens its doors to pets of all shapes and sizes. For safety reasons, pets should be on a leash or in a secure crate while inside the center.

The Cooling Center opens on August 1st and will operate until October 13, 2023, with the possibility of extensions depending on weather conditions.

In these times of blistering heat, the Cooling Center is a true oasis for our community. So, don't let the summer heat get to you - find refuge, comfort, and a cool environment at the San Tan Valley Veteran Center's new Cooling Center.
