San Tan Valley Transportation Improvements
In the last several years, Pinal County has spent approximately $103 million on road improvements throughout the San Tan Valley area. Pinal County sent out a press release thanking San Tan Valley residents for their patience. "We understand the frustration and the constant challenge to endure ongoing roadwork as San Tan Valley continues to grow," it read in the release.
Pinal County Public Works has been working to ensure San Tan Valley has transportation that can handle growth and development. As they move forward, know road improvements take time. The purpose is to alleviate congestion, provide transportation connectivity and improve the overall safety in the region.Below you will find a glimpse of some of the county's past major projects and some to start in the near future.
Completed Projects:
- Hunt Hwy Corridor - $44,670,000 (Phases 1-4 (10 miles), Empire Blvd to Magma Rd began in 2007 with completion last Summer)
- Ironwood Dr - $5,538,000 (Shoulder widening began in 2015 with completion 2018)
- Judd/Tourmaline - $2,564,000 (Built with Phase 4 of Hunt Hwy Widening (used as secondary access) began in 2017 with completion 2018)
- Ocotillo Rd - $2,037,000 (Rehabilitation (Maintenance) project began in 2017 with completion 2019)
All projects are apart of the County's overall Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) which is developed every five years.
- Meridian Road - $13,768,000 - Expected to begin Spring 2021
- Magma Road - $4,144,000 - Expected to begin Fall 2020
- Gary Road - $3,710,000 - Expected to begin September 2020
