With the arrival of the new year, many of us in San Tan Valley are thinking about resolutions and ways to positively impact our community. This year, why not consider a resolution that extends beyond personal growth and touches the lives of others? The Foster Care Review Board (FCRB) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Arizona are calling on San Tan Valley residents to step forward as volunteers in support of children in foster care.

A Local Focus: San Tan Valley's Role in Child Advocacy

FCRB and CASA programs are integral to the well-being of children in foster care, ensuring their voices are heard and needs are met. As a San Tan Valley resident, your involvement can bring a local perspective to these vital roles, directly impacting children in our area.

Jim, a FCRB member, shares his ten-year journey in child advocacy, including roles as a mentor, CASA volunteer, and FCRB member. He emphasizes the importance of local involvement: "Being part of this community, I've seen firsthand the difference we can make. It's all about connecting with and supporting our local children."

The Role of CASA Volunteers

As a CASA volunteer, you will engage closely with a child in foster care. This includes regular meetings, attending court hearings, and advocating for their best interests. It's a chance to be a consistent figure in a child's life during a time of uncertainty.

FCRB: A Monthly Commitment with Lasting Impact

FCRB volunteers from San Tan Valley can bring unique insights into the challenges faced by children in our area. The board meets once a month to review cases and provide recommendations to the Juvenile Court, playing a critical role in determining the best outcomes for these children.

Understanding and Compassion: The Heart of Volunteering

Volunteering is about more than just fulfilling duties; it's about understanding the complex family situations and showing compassion. As Jim puts it, "It's crucial to see beyond the case files. These are our community's children and families, and they deserve our empathy and support."

The Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering with FCRB or CASA offers more than just community service; it's an opportunity for personal growth, understanding community dynamics, and the satisfaction of contributing positively to the lives of young members of San Tan Valley.

The recent recruitment campaigns have been successful, but the need for San Tan Valley volunteers continues. Your local perspective and commitment can make a significant difference.

Get Involved

If you are a San Tan Valley resident, over 21, and interested in child advocacy, consider becoming a volunteer. A background check and training are part of the process, ensuring you're well-prepared for this rewarding role.
