Pinal County Public Meetings to Discuss Future HUD Housing Plans and Programs

hud-header

In an effort to promote active community involvement and transparency, Pinal County has announced a series of public meetings to discuss the FY2024 – 2028 Consolidated Plan and the FY2024 Annual Action Plan Program Funding for Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

It is essential to clarify that these meetings will not address standard housing permits. Instead, they focus strictly on HUD housing programs and the allocation of funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Pinal County, in partnership with the cities of Eloy, Florence, Mammoth, and Maricopa, is inviting citizens to participate in these meetings. The aim is to gather input on housing and community development needs and priorities for the next five years, and to brainstorm potential projects that could effectively utilize the HUD funds.

Each year, Pinal County receives HUD funding for community and housing development projects. An action plan is created, outlining the use of these funds, which is then approved by the Board of Supervisors and submitted to HUD.

The funds support the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). For the fiscal year 2024, Pinal County anticipates receiving approximately $2 million in CDBG funding, $650,000 in HOME funding, and $150,000 in ESG funding.

The public meeting for San Tan Valley residents is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Pinal County San Tan Valley Government Building located at 31505 N. Schnepf Road, San Tan Valley, Arizona 85143. Meetings will be held at multiple other locations across Pinal County, details of which can be found at www.pinal.gov/grants.

In a commitment to accessibility, Pinal County will provide auxiliary aids and accommodations to individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. These include language translations and accommodations for hearing-impaired individuals.
