Pinal County Board of Supervisors Approves new apartment complex in San Tan Valley

stv-apartments

During the Pinal County Board of Supervisors meeting, March 1st, the board discussed the proposed development of a new apartment complex in San Tan Valley, Arizona. The developer presented plans for the project, which would consist of multiple buildings with a total of 255 units on 24.03+ acres of land, located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Ocotillo and Kenworthy.

The Board asked questions about the project, including its impact on traffic in the area and the availability of affordable housing units. They also discussed the need for adequate infrastructure to support the new development, including road improvements and access to public services.

The Board heard from almost a dozen members of the public, including nearby residents and representatives from local community organizations, who expressed concerns about the potential impact of the new development on the surrounding area. Some residents expressed concerns about increased traffic, noise, and the loss of open space, while others raised questions about the affordability of the new units and the need for more affordable housing in the area.

The Board ultimately voted to approve the project, subject to certain conditions and requirements, including the completion of necessary infrastructure improvements and the inclusion of a certain percentage of affordable housing units in the development.

NOTE: San Tan Valley is now represented by 3 Pinal County Board of Supervisors:  Mike Goodman, Jeff McClure and Kevin Cavanaugh.  Goodman and McClure both voted in favor of the project; Cavanaugh voted against it. The measure passed with a 3-2 vote.  (Serdy voted against and Miller voted for.)

You can listen to the meeting below.  Items 14-16, which cover the apartment complex, start at just over the hour mark at 01:13:32.  The PowerPoint presentation is also posted below.
