Pinal County Sheriff's Office deputies apprehended a suspect who trespassed onto the Combs Middle School campus in San Tan Valley after a vehicle stop on the morning of January 24.
The incident began when the male passenger, who had an active warrant, fled from a vehicle and ran towards the school.
School staff immediately went into lockdown as officers pursued the suspect, who had scaled an exterior fence to enter the campus.
The school was searched for firearms and other weapons, and the suspect was taken into custody. The school administration has confirmed that there is no threat to the staff and students on campus but has allowed parents to pick up their children if they wish to do so.
The school staff and Pinal County Sheriff's Office are commended for their quick actions to protect the campus community.
