REMINDER: Hard Freeze Warning Monday & Tuesday Night

After enjoying a beautiful weekend in the mid to high 70s, it's time for the weather changes to begin.

By this evening, winds will kick up across the high country as a cold front digs south and moves into Arizona from Alaska.

Westerly wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph will be possible through Monday night, with southwest wind gusts of 65 to 75 mph are possible through Monday night in the mountains.

Freeze Watches and Hard Freeze Watches are in effect from Monday night through Tuesday morning and then again Tuesday night through Wednesday morning for Maricopa, Pinal and Gila Counties. This means overnight temperatures will be in the 20s to low 30s both nights.

Although not a lot of moisture with this storm system, there is the potential for snow in the mountains. Snow levels will drop to 2000 feet Monday, with accumulating snow above 5000 feet, and one to four inches possible above 6000 feet.  Expect to see the Superstition Mountains with some beautiful white snow cover.

There's a 10 percent chance for showers Monday and while we've been enjoying the high 70s this weekend, expect Monday's high to drop into the 60s and Tuesday's high down into the 50s.

While it's going to be cold, with snow flurries possible, warmer weather is expected to return by the end of the week.
