Get Paid to Foster a Pet in Need

This December, Pinal County Animal Care and Control (PCACC) is offering a unique opportunity for animal lovers in the community. Through their "Home for the Holidays Foster Incentive Program," residents can get paid to provide a temporary home for a furry friend during the holiday season.

Launched in November, the program was created to address the ongoing need for foster homes for shelter animals. Thanks to grant funding, PCACC selected 36 dogs for the initiative. The response has been heartwarming so far, with 16 dogs placed in foster care and five of these already finding their forever homes. Due to its success, PCACC is extending the program through December and plans to include more dogs.

Why Foster?
PCACC is almost always at full capacity. Fostering a pet not only provides them with a much-needed break from the shelter environment but also prepares them for life in a permanent home. Whether you have experience caring for pets in need of medical attention, or you're skilled in socializing animals who struggle in a shelter setting, your help can make a huge difference.

How to Foster:
PCACC has made the process of fostering as straightforward as possible. The shelter is open seven days a week for meet-and-greets, allowing potential foster parents to interact with the pets. For those who prefer to do a bit of research beforehand, a comprehensive list of animals available for foster is accessible online. Almost every animal at the shelter is eligible for fostering.

Not Ready for a Long-Term Commitment?
The PCACC Field Trip program is an excellent alternative for those who can't commit to long-term fostering. This program allows community members to take dogs out for short field trips. It's a chance to treat a shelter dog to a fun day out - whether it's enjoying a puppuccino, exploring a local park, or simply relaxing in a home environment for a day.

If you're considering helping a shelter pet this holiday season, now is the perfect time. Visit PCACC in person or check their website to see how you can become a part of this rewarding experience. Remember, by fostering a pet, not only are you giving them a temporary haven, but you're also opening up space at the shelter for another animal in need. Let's work together to make this holiday season a little brighter for our four-legged friends!
