Arizona Taxpayers Can Now Access Form 1099-G Online

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) has made it easier for taxpayers to access their Form 1099-G, which reports the amount of state income tax refunds, credits, or offsets paid to the taxpayer in a given tax year. Taxpayers can now search, download, and print their Form 1099-G online through the ADOR website at www.AZTaxes.gov.

To access Form 1099-G, individuals must click on the "View My 1099-G" link and provide the necessary information. This informational statement is provided to taxpayers who must report the income on their income tax return, and ADOR also provides this information to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Individuals may receive a Form 1099-G from ADOR if they itemized deductions on their federal Form 1040, Schedule A for a tax year and their Arizona income tax payments exceeded their actual tax liability. This could mean that they received a refund, applied their overpayment against their estimated tax obligation, had their overpayment used to pay another tax liability, applied to a debt owed to another state agency, or applied to a voluntary contribution on their tax return.

In addition to accessing Form 1099-G online, taxpayers can verify the refund amount by reviewing their 2021 Arizona individual income tax return. It's important to note that Form 1099-G does not include information on unemployment benefits received last year.
