Utility work on SR 87 in Coolidge

Motorists traveling along State Route 87 in the City of Coolidge (milepost 25) need to be aware that Tucson Electric Power Company will be performing utility work that will require 15-minute intermittent closures in both directions on Sunday (Aug. 16) from 4 a.m. to noon to install an overhead wire.

Road closed April 23-28

Beginning at 5 a.m., Monday, April 23, the Maricopa County contractor will temporarily close Riggs Road from east of Hawes Road to west of 203rd Place for six days to accommodate final construction activities on the new bridge crossing.

During this time, Hawes Road and 203rd Place will remain open. Hunt Highway/Empire Boulevard, Chandler Heights Road and Ellsworth Road may be used as an alternate route.

Pinal County Public Works is announcing a closure of Hunt Highway between Empire Road and Mountain Vista Road today Sunday, December 29 at 1:00 PM until Monday, December 30 at 5:00 AM.  Only emergency vehicles will be allowed between Empire Boulevard and Mountain Vista Road on Hunt Highway.

Required Detour will Add 15-20 Minutes Travel Time Temporarily

The Pinal County Public Works Department has been advised by the Copper Basin Railway that a track replacement and crossing repair project will require closure of State Route 79 between East Hunt Highway and Arizona Farms Road.

The Pinal County Public Works Department is alerting drivers in the Queen Creek area of an improvement project taking place on Ocotillo Road between 214th Place and Rittenhouse Road. This project is being done by the Town of Queen Creek and Union Pacific Rail Road.

ADOT appreciates your patience during construction

Ongoing improvement work along State Route 87 between Hunt Highway and State Route 287, on the Gila River Indian Community, is continuing on schedule. The project is designed to improve safety with the addition of eight-foot shoulders, turn lanes at intersections and new highway signs. While the entire $7.2 million project stretches more than 20 miles along SR 87, construction crews have recently concentrated their work on adding new shoulders along approximately ten miles of the highway.

Ellsworth Loop Road between Cloud and Aldecoa roads (street at post office) - Crews will be working in the  median and on the shoulder with limited, intermittent north- and southbound traffic restrictions. Work is anticipated to continue through Friday, April 26, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Weather conditions in Arizona can find you driving from the sunny, moderate climate of the low desert into ice and snow in the state’s mountain regions in just a couple of hours. These types of winter storms can really cause havoc with travel plans and businesses. And it means that ADOT—and drivers—need to be prepared.

US 60 east of Superior to close briefly for blasting operations next week

Motorists traveling along US 60 between Phoenix and Globe on Thursday morning, Aug. 13, need to plan ahead or allow extra time as the Arizona Department of Transportation begins blasting work as part of a project to build a new passing lane and widen roadway shoulders east of Superior.

Recovery from Wednesday’s Fourth of July monsoon storms is underway in throughout Pinal County.  Pinal County Public Works crews are still monitoring several closed roads due to high water in and around washes.  It is expected that most of these roads will be opened sometime today.  We will work to ensure that updated information is made available as soon as possible.

One of the suspects police are looking for.

State Route 77 from the junctures of U.S. 60 in Globe to State Route 177 in Winkelman has reopened following a crash, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The highway had been closed in both directions.

No details about the crash have been released yet.

A seven vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 10 at the U.S. 60 is creating massive backups on I-10 as well as U.S. 60.

The crash, which happened around 6am this morning left several people injured but none of the injuries are life threatening.

Empire Boulevard and Meridian Road/Gary Road – MCDOT will begin construction of a new traffic signal at this intersection from late July through late September. Temporary lane closures will be in place during this time.

Hunt Highway - Pinal County began construction of Phase 1 Hunt Hwy improvements in Dec. 2013. Phase 1 includes 1.7 miles of road widening beginning at Empire Road. Temporary pavement and lane closures will be in place through August 2014. Pinal County suggests a detour route using Gary Road and Empire Road.

Residents in San Tan Valley will soon see county-contracted crews working to improve roads in the area.  Micro-surfacing is slated to be applied beginning Tuesday, May 1, 2012, on the following roads:

*Hunt Highway at various locations near Magic Ranch, Copper Basin and Johnson Ranch

*Golf Club Drive from Johnson Ranch Boulevard to Hunt Highway

*Johnson Ranch Boulevard from Bismark Street to Golf Club Drive

This pavement preservation project will include a combined total of 41,269 square yards of material used or approximately 5.02 lane miles of improved road.  The project will use 619 tons of aggregate and 77.38 tons of emulsion.  Southwest Slurry Seal will be performing the work under a contract with Pinal County.
