Hoofbeats with HeartToday, Saturday, April 2nd at 1pm, an amazing new facility called Hoofbeats with Heart, will be opening its doors.  Hoofbeats with Heart (HBwH) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that provides Equine Assisted Activities & Therapies for children and adults with physical and emotional challenges. The new facility is located at 43491 N Coyote Rd in San Tan Valley AZ 85140.

The Grand Opening Celebration will take place today, April 2nd, from 1pm-7pm.  The event will include local vendors, kids games, petting zoo and an AMAZING GUEST SPEAKER you don't want to miss!  You'll also be able to meet the staff, learn about volunteer opportunities and enjoy a great time out.  For a map to their location please click here.

San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting welcoming Scrubs & More Boutique to the community and into the Chamber

There has been a bus accident at Quail Run and Bella Vista involving bus route #3 from Magma Ranch K-8.

The elderly female driver of the SUV involved in the accident, had to be extricated and is in serious condition at a Scottsdale hospital.  The accident happened around 4:10pm this afternoon.  The bus was carrying 42 4th, 5th and 6th grade students from Magma Ranch K-8 school and the school bus driver.

The dance group Fresh Faces is made up of, from left, Brynn Rumfallo of San Tan Valley, Jenna Valenzuela of Queen Creek, Jaycee Wilkins of Queen Creek, Dylynn Jones of Chandler and Bostyn Brown of Queen Creek. The girls will compete on the national talent show “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday night on NBC-TV, during which viewers can vote for their favorite acts.

Young dancers from Queen Creek, San Tan Valley and Chandler will compete for a chance to win a $1 million prize on live national television July 23.

Fresh Faces, a dance group of five dancers ages 9-10, aced their audition on “America’s Got Talent” talent show in Los Angeles, which advanced them directly to the Las Vegas auditions, according to Mark Moffett of Queen Creek. Mr. Moffett’s daughter, Alexa Moffett, is the group’s choreographer.

“We’ve known for a long time but we couldn’t say anything until now,” Mr. Moffett said during a phone interview.

Julie Nunley has been named chief executive officer of Banner Ironwood Medical Center at 37000 N. Gantzel Road in San Tan Valley, AZ.

She will assume her new duties on Monday, June 4.

Nunley replaces Deb Krmpotic, who is now CEO at Banner Estrella Medical Center in west Phoenix.

Juan Carlos Cuadros-Ortiz On February 7th, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen reporting a sexual assault committed on a minor. Deputies responded to the 26000 block of East Ash Avenue in the community of Casa Grande West which is an unincorporated area of Pinal County. When deputies arrived on scene, they learned Juan Carlos Cuadros-Ortiz (age 25) was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old female.

Joshua Walton Arrested for Fatal Hit and Run Collision

On Sunday, September 21st, 2014 at 9:43 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a serious injury hit and run collision on North Gantzel Road and East Chandler Heights, in San Tan Valley. Giovanni Saucedo (age 18 of San Tan Valley) was hit by a sports utility vehicle as he was riding his skateboard near the curb lane of North Gantzel Road. After being struck by the vehicle, he flew through the air and was located by his friends in the dirt nearby the road. Medics arrived and worked on Saucedo until he was transported to a local hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased Monday evening at Scottsdale Osborn Hospital.

Johnson Utilities continues its work to address a turbidity incident at its San Tan wastewater facility this week. The incident was the source of an unpleasant, but harmless, odor and considerable public interest. The incident began with a partial power failure that has now been remedied. It was erroneously reported that untreated sewage was discharged into the San Tan Homeowners Association pond.

Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic Donates Pet Oxygen Masks to Local Fire HousesThis year, instead of Secret Santa gift giving among themselves, the staff at Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic decided to play Santa to three local fire stations. They donated pet oxygen masks to the Rural Metro fire companies at Hunt Highway, Ocotillo and Copper Basin.

Approximately 60 million households in the United States have pets, so it is not unusual for firefighters to rescue animals when responding to a house fire. When it comes to saving pets’ lives however, getting them out of a burning house is only half the battle.

On Saturday, November 20th, 2010 at 8:52 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle accident at Sage Brush Avenue and Schnepf Road, San Tan Valley.

Nelson Wade Western (age 33 of San Tan Valley) was driving his 2002 Chevy S10 truck westbound on East Sage Brush Road. Western lost control of his vehicle and drove head-on into a wooden power pole. There was no pre impact skidding before he hit the pole. Western drove his vehicle into the pole with such force the pole was snapped in half.

When Apache Junction resident Thomas Yohann was set to turn 18 he was given two choices: Go to jail or go to Arizona Project Challenge.

On Jan. 9, 2011 he chose Arizona Project Challenge.

“Well, I was in out of juvi and stuff and a learned about it through the court system instead of staying in juvi and getting transferred to an adult facility when I turned 18,” Mr. Yohann said in a June 15 phone interview.

On September 25th, 2013 the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a reported home invasion near North Gantzel Road and West Chandler Heights Road in San Tan Valley. The case was assigned to detectives from our Criminal Investigations Bureau.

The victim told detectives, she heard a knock on her front door earlier in the evening. When she opened the door, two unknown white females forced themselves into her home. The victim said the suspects began to physically attack her and attempted to wrap a bra and other items around her neck to choke her.

Remains of Motorcycle after crashOn December 19th, 2010 at 2:05 a.m. a Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling northbound on Gantzel Road near Pecan Creek Drive, San Tan Valley. The deputy observed a motorcycle traveling southbound at an extremely high rate of speed. The deputy used his radar unit and clocked the motorcycle at 157 mph in a 45 mph zone. Before any patrol deputy could get near the motorcyclist, he crashed into a traffic signal pole at the intersection of 36630 North Gantzel Road.

The driver of the motorcycle was Noe Calazo (age 19 of Tempe). Calazo suffered extensive injuries as a result of the collision. He was transported by air ambulance to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in extremely critical condition.
