San Tan Valley Area Information

On May 22, 2019, The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AGO) filed a civil case in Arizona Superior Court against Johnson Utilities, LLC, seeking penalties and injunctive relief in excess of $100 million. This case is about bringing relief to the San Tan Community from the negative impacts to residents, businesses and economic development for years by Johnson Utilities.  
The Arizona Corporation Commission holds monthly open meetings.  During May's Open Meeting, several items were discussed in regards to Johnson Utilities.  A brief overview is listed below.
A new H&R Block retail tax office is now open at 85 W. Combs Road to help residents claim all the credits and deductions they are entitled.
Pinal County Public Works has been working hard improving the roads throughout District 2 (San Tan Valley).  Below is a list of recently completed projects and current projects:
During the March 12-13, 2019 Arizona Corporation Commission Open Meeting, a request to adjust the CAGRD fees charged to Johnson Utilities L.L.C. customers was on the consent agenda.

Following an extensive three-month public process, Salt River Project’s publicly-elected Board of Directors today approved changes in price plans effective with the May billing cycle that include an overall average annual price decrease of 2.2 percent. The $64 million overall decrease in prices is a result of a reduction in fuel expenses and a modest increase in base prices. The approved decrease will vary by customer type and price plan.
Rattlesnakes! Few animals spawn mythology and fish stories like they do. In working with thousands of rattlesnakes and people in the valley, the rangers at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park have heard it all.
Starting April 2nd, Pinal County Air Quality begin issuing only 3-day open burning permits. All permits will expire by May 1st and Pinal County will suspend the issuance of all open burning permits on April 27th.  
Dignity Health opened its newest freestanding emergency room in San Tan Valley, Arizona today. The new facility is licensed under Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital - Mesa, which opened last year in the East Valley. To celebrate the grand opening, Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital Emergency Room – San Tan Valley hosted a ribbon cutting with the local Chamber of Commerce.
During the past month, certain messages have been released to the media concerning Johnson Utilities without the approval and knowledge of EPCOR. EPCOR was appointed by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) as interim manager of Johnson Utilities in August 2018.
On April 10, 2019 around noon, Rural Metro responded to Poston Butte High School for a fire alarm and reports of smoke in the building.
Just before 11 am this morning, a deputy with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office attempted to do a traffic stop on a silver passenger car for an expired temporary vehicle registration and excessive speed near Schnepf Road and Hash Knife Draw in San Tan Valley.

The Johnson Utilities Pecan treatment plant collects and treats wastewater to an A+ effluent standard consistent with irrigation water used by golf courses, public parks and other similar uses across Arizona. Once treated, the A+ effluent water is delivered to users or recharged using onsite recharge and basins.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. Rural Metro Fire Department responded to an area of Queen Creek wash in San Tan Valley (N. Kenworthy @ E Chelsea Dr). Initial reports indicated two persons stranded in the flooded wash, located on a small section of elevated grass and trees.
Central Arizona College invites businesses and organizations to participate in the 5th Annual Job Expo at the San Tan Valley Campus (3736 E Bella Vista Road, San Tan Valley, AZ) on Wed., March 27, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A Neighborhood Meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, February 28th, to address another rezoning request to be made to the Pinal County Planning and Development Department.
Before San Tan Valley got its name in 2009, the area used Queen Creek as it's mailing address. Why? Because the Queen Creek Post Office serviced the area and no one knew what else to call the unincorporated section of northeastern Pinal County.
The Joe Foss American Legion in partnership with Johnson Ranch will be hosting its 5th Annual Youth Fishing Derby Saturday, March 23, 2019. The event will be held at the Johnson Ranch Catch & Release Fishing Pond, located at the South end of the Greens Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 am and fishing starts at 9:00 am. This event is free of charge to all youth under the age of 18.
