The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with KidCo Inc., of Libertyville, IL, is announcing the voluntary recall today of about 220,000 PeaPod and PeaPod Plus Travel Beds.

Infants and young children can roll off the edge of the inflatable air mattress, become entrapped between the mattress and the fabric sides of the tent, and suffocate.

CPSC is aware of a death of a 5-month-old boy in December 2011 in New York, New York, who was found with his face pressed against the side wall of the tent. The cause of death was not determined.

Sunland, Inc. today announced a voluntary limited recall of its Almond Butter and Peanut Butter products, manufactured between May 1, 2012 and September 24, 2012, because these products may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with  Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.  In rare circumstances, infection with  Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Tyson Foods, Inc. has announced it is voluntarily recalling 5-pound bags of frozen Tyson® white meat chicken nuggets that were sold at Sam’s Club locations nationwide. A small number of consumers who contacted the company indicated they had found small pieces of plastic in the nuggets, prompting the company to issue the recall. The affected product lots were produced on two days on a single line at one of the company’s 40 chicken production facilities.

Trader Joe's has alerted its customers about the recall of products with a cilantro ingredient that may cause a serious foodborne illness.

In some cases, the affected items are specific to certain states. For example, the 12-ounce, Spicy Thai Style Pasta Salad (sku 74441), was recalled by APPA Fine Foods, which supplied the product to California Trader Joe's, according to the U.S. Agriculture Department.
