Phoenix Mart will be the largest modern commerce center in North America and it will be in Pinal County

Much needed help has arrived in the days following two back-to-back animal hoarding investigations.  Pinal County Animal Care & Control responded to two hoarding cases involving 158 dogs, cats and birds during the first week of February. 

FLORENCE, AZ – So far for this calendar year, Pinal County health officials have investigated 66 reports of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough.  The infection is on the rise nationwide, prompting new guidance from state and federal health officials.

For all of 2010, Pinal County investigated 48 reports of pertussis.  In 2009, there were just 12 reports countywide.  Highly contagious, pertussis is a serious illness for children causing chronic coughing that leads some to gasp for air with a ‘whooping’ sound, hence the name ‘whooping cough.’

Southwest Ambulance and Rural/Metro Fire Department are joining EMS profession­als across the country in recognizing National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During the month of October, Rural/Metro is showing its support by allowing employees to wear cus­tom uniform T-shirts - featuring pink logos and lettering – while on duty.

The National Weather Service is predicting periods of heavy rain with flooding possible, along with gusty winds, thunderstorms and the possibility of related dust storms. The expected timing of these storms is from Saturday into early next week.

There is a tropical storm system churning off the Baja California peninsula that is expected to cause these storms and periods of heavy rainfall, particularly in southern Arizona. 

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office organized three Christmas programs and events during this holiday season to help those who are less fortunate.

Our employees were able to raise $23,000 which was used to purchase toys, clothes and food for under privileged families in Pinal County. Through toy donations and fundraising we were able to provide over 2,000 toys to nearly 400 children.

After careful consideration, it is with much regret, the Pinal County Attorney’s Office expects to accept the resignation of our Chief Deputy, Richard Wintory. His resignation will be effective January 2nd, 2015.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Office sets the bar for diversion programs by joining forces with Corrective Solutions, a diversion program administrator for prosecutorial municipalities across the country.

On Thursday, April 11, 2013, Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles filed State’s notice of intent to seek the death penalty for Cory Allen, a Phoenix man arrested for the murder of a San Tan Valley woman.

The Pinal County Attorney’s Office appreciates the Pinal County Clerk of the Superior Court’s admission to their mistakes in failing to properly label sealed documents and sealing them appropriately.

On Wednesday, Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles attained the approval for three full-time positions that will staff a new Family Advocacy Center to be located in San Tan Valley.

The funding for these positions was included in the fiscal 2013-14 budget approved by the Pinal County Board of Supervisors on June 19, 2013. 

On Saturday, Dec 20th, Pinal County Animal Care & Control reached out to the community asking for their help to adopt or foster out the many dogs and cats that they had at the shelter.    They had hoped to make it through the month of December without euthanizing one animal but the odds seemed stacked against them.  In the past, December intakes were usually lower than other months, but this December turned out to be quite the opposite.  The intakes were so high, they were higher than most other months.

Pinal County Animal Care and Control officers, working in conjunction with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and the Pinal County Attorney’s Office, seized 152 cats and 19 dogs from a Hidden Valley home Monday afternoon.

Pinal County and the City of Casa Grande's swift and dedicated action at a moment's notice scored a Fortune 500 company for Casa Grande.

Tractor Supply Company selected Casa Grande as the site of its first western distribution center as the Brentwood, Tennessee company continues its relentless march across the Western states.

Pinal County continues the process to prepare an Airport Master Plan for Pinal Airpark (Airpark). The draft Existing Conditions and Needs Report (report) is complete and available for public review and comment at pinalcountyaz.gov/airport. The report focuses on three major topics including existing Airpark conditions, forecast of aviation activity and selection of a design aircraft, and facility requirements or necessary improvement/upgrades to accommodate existing and future demand.

The runway is nearly crumbling more than a decade after being identified for repair. Its lighting system, also in need of upgrade, is the original from 1942.

Signs of neglect at Pinal Airpark near Marana are only part of the problem. A recent audit of Pinal County's Airport Economic Development Department shows a pattern of mismanagement dating back at least 30 years.

Pinal County Sheriff's Office deputies cracked a human-and- drug smuggling ring, nabbed more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana, made 10 arrests and seized a gun during a busy week that ended Saturday, said Pinal Spokesman Elias Johnson.
