PHOENIX (July 13, 2011) – Regional economic development and governmental agencies across the state today announced a significant advancement in their alliance, known as the Arizona Sun Corridor Partnership (ASCP). The partnership, composed of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), the Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation (GYEDC), Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc. (TREO), the City of Flagstaff and Pinal County, has pooled funds to hire a private contractor to focus on business development efforts in California.

The Pinal County Library District is pleased to announce the availability of Zinio for Libraries, an online newsstand offering access to thousands of magazines and news publications.

“This is the next exciting evolution in bringing the library to your living room,” said Denise Keller, Pinal County Library District Director.  “With this new service, you can access 180 complete digital magazines that can be easily viewed on any internet-enabled device inside or outside the library.”

Pinal County is living up to its motto "wide open opportunity" as it rolls out a planning process for the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Trail. The CAP trail is recognized as a National Recreational Trail (multi use, non-motorized) and would extend the entire 336 mile distance of the canal, including close to 100 miles in Pinal County.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning Tuesday and Wednesday for Pinal County. The warning will be in effect from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

James Herbert (age 16)

On Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 3:08 a.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call from a mother reporting that her son, James Herbert (age 16) was intoxicated and just took her vehicle without her permission.

On Thursday, July 23rd, 2015 at 9:27 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call regarding shots fired in the 1100 block of North Justice Drive, Oracle.

PCSO Deputy Ed Muszala received a lifesaving award this morning for his heroic efforts last month in saving a man who was under attack from a swarm of angry bees. Congratulations Ed for going beyond the call of duty.

Maricopa High School was on lockdown Wednesday morning due to a reported bomb threat.

Students were evacuated to a safe location on campus while police officers searched through all the buildings on the campus, looking for suspicious packages.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect who assaulted a female jogger in Maricopa Tuesday morning.

Police said the suspect attacked the jogger from behind and forced her to the ground near Alterra Parkway and Bowlin Road at about 6 a.m.

The Pinal County Public Health Services District announced on Tuesday that the county has seen its first locally acquired human West Nile virus (WNV) case of 2015. A male from Maricopa has been confirmed with the infection and is currently receiving medical care while recovering.

The Pinal County Supervisors joined county officials from across the state at the Eleventh Annual Legislative Summit of the County Supervisors Association (CSA), October 13-15, 2015, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. At the event, local leaders established a county policy agenda for the 2016 state legislative session.

The northbound lanes of Ironwood Drive in Apache Junction are scheduled to be closed or restricted on Monday (Oct. 19) and Tuesday (Oct. 20) for routine maintenance.
