San Tan Valley is a rapidly growing community currently over 100,00 residents. For over a decade now its future has been decided by other communities smaller than itself. STV is once again immersed in a battle by a small subset of folks making decisions for the entire San Tan Valley area.
Florence and Apache Junction and Queen Creek have all played a role in stopping San Tan Valley from enjoying the benefits of planning and development that these smaller towns have enjoyed. Other parties have played as role as well, George Johnson of Johnson Utilities has financially and otherwise vigorously opposed STV being anything other than an unincorporated area.
Now a bunch of wealthy folks of less than 2,500 in an enclave called Encanterra are in the process of making the decision about how they will vote on annexation. Their decision will impose increased taxes on the areas Queen Creek has decided it would like to annex. If 50% plus one of Encanterra residents decide, folks who shop at Frys, who get blood tests or x-rays, chiropractic treatments and dental appointments will see the QC increased taxes passed on to them in their bill.
Queen Creek needs more tax revenue and they’re looking at San Tan Valley to get it.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
