Drivers traveling between San Tan Valley and Florence should expect delays next week as a section of Hunt Highway closes for construction.

The intersection of Hunt Highway and Attaway Road will be fully closed from March 15 through March 22, 2026, according to the Town of Florence.

Town officials said a full closure was not originally planned. However, construction crews discovered failing pavement within the intersection that must be completely removed before the project can continue safely. Closing the intersection allows crews to remove the damaged pavement and complete the remaining work more efficiently.

During the closure, Hunt Highway traffic will be detoured through Arizona Farms Road, which will add travel time for drivers using the route between San Tan Valley and Florence.

Traffic traveling on Attaway Road will be rerouted through State Route 287.

Officials say drivers should plan for longer travel times while the detours are in place.

The closure was scheduled during Spring Break for Florence Unified School District and American Leadership Academy, when school traffic in the area is significantly lower.

The intersection is expected to reopen before the Country Thunder music festival, which typically brings heavy traffic to the Florence area each year.
