REMINDER: Hunt Highway Phase 4 & Gantzel Road Improvements

Hunt Highway is currently CLOSED to traffic between Johnson Ranch Boulevard and Bella Vista Road for crews to construct improvements in this area. During this work, all Hunt Highway traffic is routed onto the new Gantzel Road Extension as a detour around the work zone.

Local access is being provided from the north for Rural Metro Fire and customers and staff of Johnson Utilities and Allstate Self Storage. Businesses at the San Tan Mountain Dental, Chase Bank, and AutoZone have access off of Golf Club Drive.

Construction crews continue work within the closure and are currently installing concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveways, and median curb. In addition, grading crews are working to haul and place the base materials to prepare the subsurface of the roadway for paving. Paving is currently scheduled to begin the week of August 6.

Scheduled for the weekend of August 11-12, the intersection of Hunt Highway and Bella Vista Road will have a full closure due to restoration work. No through access will be permitted during the closure. In order to maintain business access motorists will have to use Gantzel Road and Johnson Ranch Boulevard. The segment of Hunt Highway between Red Road and Johnson Ranch Boulevard/Gantzel Road is scheduled to re-open to through traffic towards the end of day August 10th to prepare for the closure.

Work on the Judd Road and Tourmaline alignment will then begin, with this phase of the project expected to last through the end of October. Work on Hunt Highway from Johnson Ranch Boulevard/Gantzel Road to Magma Road will not begin until the Judd Road and Tourmaline Drive phase is completed in order to provide an alternative access for Copper Basin residents. Motorists will continue to have access along Hunt Highway throughout this remaining work.

Business and resident access is being maintained, and we thank you for your continued patience during this construction.
