USAC sprint cars kick off fall season at Arizona Speedway

Speedway. Racing starts this Saturday after a month break.

It took USAC Southwest drivers to compete in four races throughout Oklahoma and Kansas. Mr. Ziehl picked up two wins on the tour with Mr. Davis collecting one win in the 4 race series, proving just how competitive the Southwest division is, the website said.

Along with the sprints will be the pure stocks, AMA Modlites and Robert Horne Ford bombers.

Michael Huffman will lead the pure stock division into Saturday night’s event; he sits just six points ahead of Jody Henderson, with Daren Olney in third position just 20 points back, according to the website.

The full field of 2013 Arizona Speedway pure stocks will look to add another memorable main event to the season.

Arizona Modlite Association Modlite points leader Nick Gann has a narrow lead on the 2013 championship hopefuls with Mike Martin and Chaz Baca Jr. looking to improve on their second and third positions in the chase to the championship, the website said.

The Robert Horne Ford bombers will cap off the action-packed evening as points leader Steve Soboski tries to put his wagon up front and extend his points lead over Toby Wibeto and Don Berner; the duo are tied for second position, with Laurette Brigner setting in fourth position in this season’s long battle.

Racing will begin at 7:15 p.m. Gates open at 5:15 p.m. Pits open at 4 p.m.  The San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at 7:45pm.

Admission costs $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $5 for kids ages 7-11.
