‘Salt River Heroes Litter Zero’ Event Is Huge Success

Salt River Tubing employees distributed thousands of litter bags to tubers as they prepared to launch their floating picnics.

The sold-out event resulted in temporary road closures on north Power Road/Bush Highway and Usery Pass into Tonto National Forest during Memorial Day, re-opening as parking spaces became available.

Henri Breault, President/C.E.O. commends and thanks the Salt River tubers that have pitched in to “lend a hand” and keeping the Salt River free of litter.  “It’s so easy to be a Salt River Hero – just take personal responsibility for your picnic trash while floating and “stash it & bag it” in the litter bags that are provided during tube rental. The responsible stewardship resulted in a clean and beautiful Salt River each day during the recent holiday weekend, ” he said. To date, 607 tons of trash has been stashed and bagged on holiday weekends!

Company officials also advised the following safety tips for floaters: non-swimmers, inexperienced swimmers and children should wear a life vest while tubing; tubers should plan their floating picnics to include plenty of water, sun block, protective footwear, and beverages in cans or plastic containers.  Ice chests/coolers will be inspected for glass containers before boarding shuttle buses and glass containers will be confiscated.

Have a great time during your floating picnics but remember that drugs, alcohol and the Salt River do not mix - appoint a designated driver before your tubing adventure.
