Get Creative with ADOT's Name-A-Snowplow Contest!

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is once again inviting all Arizonans to unleash their creativity in the annual Name-A-Snowplow contest. After the success of last year's competition, ADOT is giving the public the chance to name three of its snowplows in a fun and engaging way.

How to Enter the Contest: Participants are encouraged to think of the most humorous, witty, and pun-laden names they can muster. There's no limit to the number of submissions one can make, so let your imagination run wild! To submit your snowplow names, visit by January 25 and remember to include your email address. This is crucial for ADOT to contact you in case your submission makes it to the top picks.

Choosing the Winners: Once all submissions are in, ADOT will select 10-15 finalists. The public will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite names. The three names that garner the most votes will not only earn a place of honor with a decal on the driver's side of a snowplow but also give their creators significant bragging rights.

Past Winners and Contest Popularity: Last year, the contest witnessed a phenomenal response, with nearly 5,000 names submitted and over 7,000 votes cast. Names like "Alice Scooper," "Snowguaro," and "Frost Responder" emerged as the winners, showcasing the creativity and humor of Arizonans.

While some residents in the warmer parts of Arizona may not frequently encounter snow, it's a different story in the northern regions of the state. Last winter, ADOT snowplows cleared over 1.2 million miles, demonstrating the crucial role these vehicles play in maintaining safe travel during winter storms. "Our snowplow operators work tirelessly around the clock during winter storms to ensure highway safety," said ADOT Director Jennifer Toth. "This contest not only highlights their vital work but also shares important safe driving tips, such as never passing a snowplow, and celebrates the creative spirit of our community."

The Name-A-Snowplow contest is more than just a chance to have a bit of fun; it's a unique opportunity to recognize and appreciate the hard work of ADOT's snowplow operators. So, San Tan Valley residents, let your creativity shine and maybe your witty snowplow name will be plowing through Arizona's snowy roads next winter!
