The students will gather around the flagpole at the 300-student K-6 school in the morning, along with members of the community to watch as the flag is raised, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and listen to the Presidential Proclamation given by President Obama each year, along with a moment of silence.
Afterwards, students will return to their classrooms and, throughout the day, will reflect on the spirit of volunteerism that President Obama emphasizes on this day. This year, cooperating with Combs High School, the students will participate in creating a banner that will be hung at the Combs High School football game that evening that will have messages from the students honoring our First Responders and Service men and women.
The community is welcome to join Combs Traditional Academy as they raise the flag at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015.
