New Solar Plant will Charge Huge Battery for SRP

Salt River Project today announced a 20-year power purchase agreement for a grid-scale, integrated solar and battery project that will be located in Pinal County. SRP will purchase all of the energy produced at the Pinal Central Energy Center, located near Coolidge, which will be constructed and owned by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources.

SRP Board Approves 2.2% Price Reduction

Following an extensive three-month public process, Salt River Project’s publicly-elected Board of Directors today approved changes in price plans effective with the May billing cycle that include an overall average annual price decrease of 2.2 percent. The $64 million overall decrease in prices is a result of a reduction in fuel expenses and a modest increase in base prices. The approved decrease will vary by customer type and price plan.

SRP Offers Incentive for Residential Battery Storage

Salt River Project has initiated a program to support the installation and use of battery storage systems for its residential customers. The Battery Storage Incentive Program will provide up to $1,800 ($150 per DC-kWh) for customers who purchase and install qualifying lithium ion battery technologies. The program will be available for up to 4,500 SRP residential electric customers on a first-come, first-served basis during a 36-month period, beginning May 1, 2018.
