Rural Metro Fire Hosts ‘Fill the Boot’ Drive to Support Burn Survivors
The Rural Metro Fire Department is once again rallying the community for a great cause with its upcoming Fill the Boot Donation Drive to benefit the Arizona Burn Foundation. The event will take place Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter located at 1725 W. Hunt Highway in San Tan Valley.
The donation drive comes at an important time — October is Fire Prevention Month, and October 15 is National Burn Awareness Day. Both observances highlight the importance of fire safety and prevention while also recognizing the challenges faced by burn survivors.
The Arizona Burn Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for burn survivors and their families through programs that provide emotional, financial, and educational support.
"Events like this make a real difference," said Bretta Nelson, Director of Marketing for the Arizona Burn Foundation. "We're so grateful to Rural Metro Fire and to every community member who stops by to donate. Every contribution helps us continue providing essential resources to burn survivors across Arizona."
Rural Metro Fire's last Fill the Boot event, held in July, raised $1,500 for the foundation. Firefighters hope to exceed that total during this month's drive, continuing their tradition of giving back to the community they serve.
Residents are encouraged to stop by the event, meet their local firefighters, and make a donation of any size. For those unable to attend in person, contributions can be made online at azburn.org or by scanning the QR code featured on event materials.
The department invites everyone to join in supporting this important cause — helping burn survivors heal, rebuild, and thrive.
