Poston Butte High School Senior, Tyler Thompson, recognized for a Scholar-Athlete Award
The National Football Foundation & Fiesta Bowl Charities, has selected Tyler as one of the 2017-18 Football Scholar-Athletes.
As a second-team selection, Tyler will be representing over 258,000 students, from 186 high schools in central and northern Arizona at the “Valley of the Sun” Chapter awards ceremony and banquet dinner on March 24 at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort.
The selection process includes Academics (40%), Football accomplishments (40%), Community Service (20%).
Tyler has an unweighted GPA of 3.88 and is a member of the National Honor Society. Tyler was named to the Arizona 5A All-State Football Team and was the 5A Sonoran Region’s Defensive Player of the Year. Tyler has represented Poston Butte, in a variety of volunteer service projects including: “Reading Heroes”, Blood Drives, and volunteered with numerous Youth Sports organizations.
