It was proposed that the Marching Band could convert the empty field into a grass practice field. When realizing that the District could not fund that endeavor, an active and supportive band family made contact with their employer, McCarthy Company, who has installed donated playgrounds as a way to give back to the community.
After nearly eighteen months of planning and collaborating, McCarthy Company, DLR Group and San Tan Landscaping donated materials, labor and sod. In addition to the corporate support, nearly 100 volunteers including band students, families, friends, community and CHS’s building manager Nate Allred contributed many hours of work to transform an unsightly gravel lot into a lush green practice field where the CHS Marching Coyote Regiment will be able to grow and develop without the pervious time- space limitations.
Band Director, Mr. Leo Werner and the MCR students wish to extend their genuine deep gratitude to McCarthy Company, DLR Group, San Tan Landscaping for their very generous donations, the Combs School District for permission to use the field, as well as recognize all the hard work and dedication of the Many Hands that made this dream a realization. This practice field will be a very useful tool as Mr. Werner and the CHS Marching Coyote Regiment look forward to the 2014 Marching Band season where they plan to bring the program to an even higher level of success.
There will be a field dedication ceremony at Combs High School on Thursday May 15, 2014 at 5:30 pm.
