With the permanent change to October 1, students will now be required to use income and tax information from an earlier tax year. To complete the 2017-18 FAFSA, income and tax information for 2015 will be required.
“The change to October 1 will benefit students,” stated Elisa Juarez, CAC’s Director of Financial Aid. “Students will no longer need to estimate their tax information because they will have already completed their taxes by the time they complete the FAFSA. In the past they had to go back into FAFSA and update their information. Also, since their taxes are done, students can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to automatically import tax information into their FAFSA.”
