The Battle of the Books program supported by the Maricopa County Library District and Friends of the Queen Creek Library is a competition where fifth and sixth graders read a total of 12 books throughout the school year followed by a battle which consists of questions about the books. A total of 3,700 students from the East Valley participated in the program this year. Fifteen schools from Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Higley as well as Queen Creek and J.O. Combs were represented. Each school qualified for Regional’s by placing in the top three in their respective district competitions.
