Framed by the Superstition Mountains, guests were greeted with holiday music performed by a brass quartet followed by a beautiful celebration kick off with the presentation of colors by the JROTC Cadets, the National Anthem performed by the Orchestra Ensemble, and the Pledge of Allegiance lead by representatives from Student Council.
Dr. Blanchard began her speech, thanking the voters for their support in approving the 2016 Bond which is providing for the auditorium as well as various other projects at Combs High School and throughout the district. Governing Board President Shelly Hargis also expressed her gratitude to the community for supporting the students in the J.O. Combs school district and shared her excitement to see what the future holds for the next generation of leaders.
Student speakers were invited to share what the auditorium means to them, the students of Combs High School, and the community. “Although I won’t get the privilege of using this auditorium as a student, I am still unreasonably excited for the kids who do" said Senior Drama Student, Spencer Mattson. "No more twenty minute drives to Higley or Queen Creek to see a stage. There will be one in our own backyard.”
Shanece McCoy, Dance Student, shared that the auditorium will bring a new level of professionalism to the dance troupe and fellow artists who will share the building. Student Council President Chloe Temple echoed her comments and the positive impact the auditorium will have on student performances.
The event culminated with the ceremonial breaking of ground.
