Groundbreaking for new Combs High School Auditorium

Framed​ ​by​ ​the​ ​Superstition​ ​Mountains,​ ​guests were greeted with holiday music performed by a brass quartet followed by a beautiful celebration kick off with the presentation of colors by the JROTC Cadets, the​ ​National​ ​Anthem​ ​performed​ ​by​ ​the Orchestra​ ​Ensemble,​ ​and​ ​the​ ​Pledge​ ​of​ ​Allegiance​ ​lead​ ​by​ ​representatives​ ​from​ ​Student Council. 

Dr.​ ​Blanchard​ ​began her speech,​ ​thanking​ ​the​ ​voters​ ​for​ ​their​ ​support​ ​in​ ​approving​ ​the​ ​2016​ ​Bond​ ​which is providing​ ​for​ ​the​ ​auditorium​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​various​ ​other​ ​projects​ ​at​ ​Combs​ ​High​ ​School​ ​and throughout​ ​the​ ​district.​ ​Governing​ ​Board​ ​President​ ​Shelly​ ​Hargis​ ​also​ ​expressed​ ​her​ ​gratitude​ ​to the​ ​community​ ​for​ ​supporting​ ​the​ ​students​ ​in​ ​the​ ​J.O.​ ​Combs​ ​school​ ​district​ ​and​ ​shared​ ​her excitement​ ​to​ ​see​ ​what​ ​the​ ​future​ ​holds​ ​for​ ​the​ ​next​ ​generation​ ​of​ ​leaders.​ ​​ ​

Student​ ​speakers​ ​were​ ​invited​ ​to​ ​share​ ​what​ ​the​ ​auditorium​ ​means​ ​to​ ​them,​ ​the​ ​students​ ​of Combs​ ​High​ ​School,​ ​and​ ​the​ ​community.​ ​​ ​​“Although​ ​I​ ​won’t​ ​get​ ​the​ ​privilege​ ​of​ ​using​ ​this auditorium​ ​as​ ​a​ ​student,​ ​I​ ​am​ ​still​ ​unreasonably​ ​excited​ ​for​ ​the​ ​kids​ ​who​ ​do" said ​Senior​ ​Drama​ ​Student,​ Spencer​ ​Mattson.  "No​ ​more​ ​twenty minute​ ​drives​ ​to​ ​Higley​ ​or​ ​Queen​ ​Creek​ ​to​ ​see​ ​a​ ​stage.​ ​​ ​There​ ​will​ ​be​ ​one​ ​in​ ​our​ ​own​ ​backyard.”

Shanece​ ​McCoy,​ ​Dance​ ​Student,​ ​shared​ ​that​ ​the auditorium​ ​will​ ​bring​ ​a​ ​new​ ​level​ ​of​ ​professionalism​ ​to​ ​the​ ​dance​ ​troupe​ ​and​ ​fellow​ ​artists​ ​who will​ ​share​ ​the​ ​building.​ ​Student​ ​Council​ ​President​ ​Chloe​ ​Temple​ ​echoed​ ​her​ ​comments​ ​and​ ​the positive​ ​impact​ ​the​ ​auditorium​ ​will​ ​have​ ​on​ ​student​ ​performances. 

The​ ​event​ ​culminated​ ​with​ ​the​ ​ceremonial​ ​breaking​ ​of ground.
