Encanterra Community Service League Generously Donates $24,000 to J.O. Combs Unified School District

A substantial donation of $24,000 from the Encanterra Community Service League will give a considerable boost to three schools within the J.O. Combs Unified School District, enhancing their Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs.

Combs Middle School, Harmon Elementary School, and Combs Traditional Academy are the fortunate recipients of these funds, dedicated towards fostering a positive student culture by teaching and rewarding good behavior.

Formed in 2014, the Encanterra Community Service League consists of altruistic residents from the Encanterra Country Club in San Tan Valley, AZ. The League is known for its dedication to supporting various local causes and organizations, and this year, the J.O. Combs Unified School District has been selected as the beneficiary for its inaugural live dinner theatre fundraiser.

Retired educator and lifelong learning advocate Guy Schumacher, who coordinated the event, affirmed that local schools were the most deserving recipients of this year's fundraiser proceeds.

Furthermore, the League's commitment extends beyond just monetary contributions. Its members have been stalwart supporters of the schools within the district for years, championing initiatives like the annual Kid's Kringle event. This heartwarming occasion allows members to donate gifts for students, granting them the opportunity to present their loved ones with gifts during the holiday season.

Dr. Greg Wyman, Superintendent, warmly acknowledged the persistent support of the Encanterra Community Service League, saying, "This is the perfect example of how the role of our schools does not simply stop with students or families, but instead represents a foundational component of our community as a whole. We are incredibly grateful to our neighbors at the Encanterra Community Service League for recognizing this and for their ongoing support of our students and families."

Schumacher has personally presented checks to the chosen schools and to the District's Community Engagement Liaison, Elfida Telles. To honor the League's benevolent contribution, a public recognition will take place during the Governing Board Meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 6:00 pm at the District Office. Community members are cordially invited to attend and celebrate this noteworthy act of community support.
