Combs High School in San Tan Valley, Arizona is celebrating their student council's exceptional record of leadership and service after being awarded the National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Student Council (NatStuCo). This is the second consecutive year that the council has received this prestigious recognition.

The National Gold Council of Excellence Award is given to councils that have demonstrated a commitment to service, leadership, and uplifting the voices of their peers. The Combs High School student council has gone above and beyond in fulfilling these criteria, creating a culture that promotes scholarship and citizenship not only within the school, but also within the larger community.

NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe commended the Combs High School council for their exceptional work, stating that "exceptional student councils are a hallmark of exceptional schools". He added that he was delighted to recognize their hard work with the National Gold Council of Excellence Award.

Dr. Dave Nelson, CHS Stuco Advisor expressed his pride in the student council, stating that he was constantly amazed and humbled by their character, attitude, and ethics. He also acknowledged that they taught him much more than he taught them.

To earn the National Council of Excellence Award, a student council must meet a variety of criteria, including having a written constitution, holding regular meetings, and having a democratic election process. Additionally, councils must have demonstrated successful sponsorship and participation in activities such as leadership development and service to the school and community.

Combs High School's student council has not only met but exceeded these requirements, making them a shining example of exceptional student leadership. Congratulations to the Combs High School student council on their well-deserved recognition!
