Central Arizona College to Host Poetry Contest

In honor of African American contributions, the Central Arizona College (CAC) Learning Support Department will host its annual Black History Poetry Contest with the theme "The Legacy We Leave Behind." The contest is designed to celebrate the achievements of African Americans and promote universal values such as responsibility, togetherness, freedom, and equality.

The winners of the poetry contest will be announced at the Cultural Expression Competition, a poetry, and public speaking event, on Tuesday, February 28, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Signal Peak Campus, Building T Room 116 (8470 N Overfield Road, Coolidge, AZ). During the event, CAC students will have the opportunity to express their experiences, stories, and knowledge related to the theme of "The Legacy We Leave Behind" using the PechaKucha presentation style. The competition is sponsored by Student Engagement, Communication Studies, and the Learning Support Department and aims to promote both written and oral communication through cultural expression.

Community members are invited to attend the Cultural Expression Competition and support the students in their expression. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top placers.
