Central Arizona College Joins ReadyTechGo Network to Boost Tech Workforce
San Tan Valley's own Central Arizona College (CAC) is at the forefront of an exciting new initiative aimed at training students for in-demand technology jobs. As part of the innovative ReadyTechGo network, CAC joins three other Arizona community colleges in a state-led effort to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing—one of the fastest-growing industries in Arizona.
At the heart of ReadyTechGo is the Automated Industrial Technology (AIT) program, a specialized curriculum that equips students with the essential skills needed to secure jobs in advanced manufacturing. This field is characterized by the integration of cutting-edge technology and robotics, making it a key driver of Arizona's economic growth. The AIT program is designed to fast-track students into the workforce, with the initial training allowing them to be job-ready in as little as two weeks. Students also have the option to further their education, earning certifications in high-demand areas such as electric vehicles, semiconductors, medical devices, and aerospace. The entire program can be completed within two years, culminating in an associate degree.
"ReadyTechGo represents an important collaboration between Maricopa Community Colleges, Pima Community College, and Central Arizona College," said Andrew Clegg, Executive Director of Workforce & Economic Development at Central Arizona College. "This shared curriculum prepares students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge, ensuring they are ready to meet the evolving demands of today's employers. Together, we are building a stronger, more dynamic workforce that benefits both our communities and the industries we serve."
Upon completing the AIT program at CAC, students are qualified to work as equipment or automation technicians. These roles involve operating, monitoring, and maintaining a variety of automated electro-mechanical systems, product assembly lines, process control systems, and product distribution systems that rely on programmable controls and other advanced technologies.
The ReadyTechGo network is not just about training; it's about aligning education with the needs of the industry. The program's leaders work closely with Arizona's tech employers to ensure that the curriculum evolves in response to the latest industry trends and demands, keeping students at the cutting edge of technological advancements.
As Arizona continues to rise as a national leader in advanced manufacturing, programs like ReadyTechGo will be critical in maintaining a consistent pipeline of highly skilled workers, ensuring that the state remains competitive on a global scale. Modern manufacturing already provides over 162,000 jobs across Arizona, particularly in the rapidly expanding corridor from southeast Phoenix to Tucson, and the demand for skilled industrial technology workers is expected to grow.
San Tan Valley residents interested in exploring opportunities in advanced manufacturing are encouraged to learn more about the ReadyTechGo network and the Automated Industrial Technology program at Central Arizona College. This initiative represents a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills and secure a future in one of Arizona's most dynamic industries.
