Facebook scam messages: Officials warn of hoax
The viral message hitting many Facebook accounts reads: "Hi, I actually got another friend request from you yesterday which I ignored so you may want to check your account."
The message then goes on to instruct the Facebook to forward the message to all of their friends.
The message is making people believe that their account was hacked and is sending out friend requests without their consent.
Officials say that is not true. Your Facebook account has not been hacked and has not been sending out friend requests.
Officials say the messages are completely fake, and by forwarding it to your friends, you are only helping amplify the hoax.
If you receive these messages, simply ignore them and do not forward them.
