Sharon Girard Announces Run for Arizona Legislative District 8

“Arizona Republican Leadership is failing to provide access to the right to opportunity in our state, and District 8 is hurt most by this failure,” said Girard. “School districts can’t find certified teachers, residents can’t find affordable healthcare, so it’s clear that change is needed in leadership at the Capitol. We’re campaigning to change the makeup in the House to put a check on special interests and the governor.”

Girard was the Democratic Nominee for the Arizona Senate in 2018. Her campaign infrastructure has quickly transitioned into this competitive 2020 race focused on early community outreach and coalition building.

Girard is a former Physician’s Assistant and recognized expert on women’s health. As the founder of an Illinois program for teen pregnancy and an emergency room practitioner, Girard has focused on improving the outcomes for the people she’s served. Legislative District 8 is a diverse district stretching across the heart of Pinal County and the Miami/Globe area of Gila County. This District is a potential Arizona Democratic pickup for a majority in 2020.
