The Pinal County Commission on Trial Court Appointments has opened the floor for public comments on six candidates vying for an upcoming vacancy on the Superior Court in Pinal County. This vacancy has arisen due to the retirement of Hon. Kevin D. White.

The following candidates are under consideration:

  • Kyle D. Hopson
  • Karen F. Palmer
  • Jamie R. Ramirez
  • Matthew S. Reed
  • Megan K. Weagant
  • Lawrence M. Wharton

Details of the candidates, including their applications, are available for review online at the Commission's website, azcourts.gov/jnc.

The Commission has scheduled a meeting for candidate interviews on August 8, starting at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will take place in room 2130 of the Superior Court in Pinal County, located at 971 N. Jason Lopez Circle, Building A, Florence, AZ 85132. The specific interview agenda will be posted on the Commission's website at least seven days in advance of the meeting.

The Commission is actively encouraging Pinal County citizens to contribute their views at the August 8 meeting. Alternatively, residents may submit their written comments electronically to This email address is being protected from spambots. In an effort to minimize paperwork and to maintain efficient communication, the Commission suggests sending comments via email. However, it should be noted that comments must be received no later than August 3 to be taken into account and anonymous feedback will not be considered.

Following the interviews, the Commission will shortlist at least three nominees for Governor Katie Hobbs, who is responsible for appointing the new judge. This is a vital opportunity for citizens to engage in the selection process and voice their opinions on who should serve as the next Superior Court Judge in Pinal County.

Stay updated with this selection process by visiting the Commission's website or subscribing to their notifications. Your input matters, and it can shape the future of our judicial system.
