Pinal Regional Transportation Authority Community Open Houses Announced

Central Arizona Governments along with Pinal County announces a set of five community open houses to seek input on the proposed regional transportation plan for the Pinal Regional Transportation Authority (RTA).

The open houses will take input from residents about the proposed RTA, along with showing what roads are slated to be built with RTA funding, if approved by Pinal County voters this fall.

The RTA would seek a half-cent sales tax to improve transportation options for drivers in Pinal County. The proposed plan focuses on roadway development, public transportation improvements, and local transportation project funding to the towns of Kearny, Mammoth, Superior, and the city of Eloy. Some of the proposed roadway improvements include a North-South corridor that would connect U.S. 60 with Interstate 10, and a traffic interchange at I-10 and Kortsen Road.

Projections over 20 years predict the RTA could bring in $650 million in revenue targeted directly for Pinal County roads.

The community open houses are from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as follows:

  • Monday, March 20th: Kearny, Constitution Hall, 912 Tilbury Drive, Building E.;
  • Thursday, March 23rd: Apache Junction, Multi-Generational Center, MGC Classroom, 1035 North Idaho Road;
  • Tuesday, March 28th: Eloy, Eloy Santa Cruz Library, Meeting Room, 1000 North Main Street;
  • Monday, April 3rd: Casa Grande, Dorothy Powell Senior Center, Dining Room, 405 East 6th Street;
  • Thursday, April 6th: Florence, Library and Community Center, Room B, 778 North Main Street.
