PCSO Budget to be Reviewed Line by Line

In the letter to the editor, the Sheriff blames the Board for his decision to pull deputies from more rural areas and placing them in San Tan Valley beginning in June.

"The Sheriff's department takes the lion's share of our budget (63%) and it never seems to be enough" said Chase. "We should all help the Sheriff regarding the management of the budget allowed."

Chase requested that a review take place in Executive Session at the beginning of her statement and later proposed making it a work session item. After being questioned by Chairman Smith, the decision was made to review the budget during the next work session on April 16th.

Chase hoped that by using all of the collective skills of the Board, that they will be able to "trim where necessary, realign with community priorities and find a way to support salary increases for the rank of Sergeant and below".

Board of Supervisor work sessions are open to the public. The April 16th work session will begin at 9:30am at 135 N Pinal Street in Florence, AZ.
