pcao-academy-stv

Step behind the scenes of the local justice system with the Pinal County Attorney's Office (PCAO). It's your chance to walk the path of a criminal case from arrest to sentencing, and it's open to anyone who wants to learn more about how justice is served in our community.

Yes, the PCAO is currently accepting applications for its much-anticipated second Citizens Academy of the year. The day-long event, set to take place on Saturday, July 15th, 2023, invites members of the public to delve into the inner workings of the criminal justice system in an engaging, educational, and interactive manner.

During this special academy, participants will be privy to evidence reviews of several cases that the PCAO has prosecuted, gaining first-hand understanding of how intricate charging decisions are made. Attendees will also have the rare opportunity to experience a shooting simulator that puts them in the shoes of police officers facing real-life scenarios.

The program concludes with an enlightening tour of the county jail, putting the full journey of a case—from initial arrest to final sentencing—into clear perspective.

With about 150 prosecutors, legal, and support staff, the PCAO handles roughly 2,500 felony cases annually. The organization is divided into multiple bureaus, including the Trial, Drug, Major Crimes, and Juvenile/Appeals and Misdemeanors bureaus.

Who is this academy for? Everyone from the private citizen curious about the criminal justice process to neighborhood watch and community groups. Educators and students, business and civic groups, and public sector employees or elected officials are also encouraged to apply. The session is not just illuminating, but also an excellent networking opportunity for those interested in legal, civic, or law enforcement careers.

The session will run from 9 am to 4 pm at 971 N. Jason Lopez Circle. Lunch will be provided, allowing for informal conversation and further learning. However, please note that weapons of any kind are prohibited inside the county attorney's office.

Space is limited, so secure your spot now. To register for the Pinal County Attorney's Office Citizens Academy, please fill out the brief application available here.

This is an incredible opportunity to demystify the processes of the criminal justice system, learn more about the dedicated work of the PCAO, and understand more about the role of justice in our society. Mark your calendar, submit your application, and prepare for an eye-opening experience!
