Florence Copper Achieves Major Milestone with EPA Approval

In a pivotal development for the Florence Copper Project, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted the final Underground Injection Control (UIC) permit, marking a significant step forward for the initiative.

The UIC permit, issued by the EPA, is a testament to the project's dedication to maintaining high environmental standards. This crucial approval essentially paves the way for the construction of the Florence Copper commercial production facility.

Stuart McDonald, President and CEO of Taseko Mines Limited, expressed his enthusiasm about this major achievement. "Receipt of this final permit is an exciting milestone for Taseko and speaks volumes about the project's strong environmental attributes," McDonald stated. He emphasized that with the combined approvals from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and now the EPA, they're set to kick-start the construction phase.

It's worth noting that once the commercial operations are up and running, Florence Copper aims to produce an impressive 85 million pounds of copper annually over a 22-year mine life. This production will not only boost the local economy but also cater to the growing U.S. domestic market demand.

Highlighting the project's eco-conscious approach, McDonald added, "Florence Copper stands out as one of the least capital-intensive copper projects globally. It promises an environmental footprint smaller than comparable mining operations. Its commitment to low water use, energy conservation, and reduced carbon emissions reinforces its position as a forward-thinking, green initiative."

This recent development underscores the project's commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship, a vision that holds promise for both the San Tan Valley & Florence communities and the broader copper industry.
