In the Election report, Geraldine Roll told the Board that the recount has been completed and audit reports were being transmitted to the Secretary of State's office. She said that the Secretary of State's Office has filed a motion to continue for the hearing that was set for Thursday based on litigation being brought by Abe Hamadeh in Mohave County, where he has been granted access to some ballots. At the beginning of 2023, the department will hold a kick-off meeting as they look at design of a new facility for the Elections Department, as well as policies and procedures around Elections moving forward. The Board approved of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors establishing the "Pinal County Civic Engagement Award", and they recognized Roberto Reveles as the inaugural recipient of the award. Roberto recently turned 90 and travels to every Board of Supervisors Meeting from his home in Gold Canyon, speaking passionately at most. Much of the meeting was spent on Public Hearings for two Planning and Zoning cases - to allow a subdivision on 226± acres of land, located north of West Miller road, south of West Teel Road, and on both sides of N Warren Road near Maricopa, and to allow a mixed-use subdivision on 761± acres of land, located west of North Felix Road and south of west Arizona Farms Road near Florence. All were approved as presented, with two additional stipulations added to item 16 at the request of the applicant, with approval from Public Works. (Items 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
In the County Manager's Report, the Board recognized the Treasurer's Office, which recently won two awards at the Arizona Association of Counties 2022 Conference. The team was awarded the Summit Award for Information Technology and the Innovation of the Year Award, both in recognition of deploying Contactless Payment Terminals with support for mobile payment to all Treasurer's window locations and the highest volume County departments. Chief Deputy Treasurer Kelli Munroe, Systems Administrator Wiley Siler, and Treasurer Michael McCord are pictured below with the Board of Supervisors. (Item 6)
The Board recognized the Pinal County Workforce Development Board (PCWDB), which was the recipient of the "Local Board Impact Award, by the Workforce Arizona Council (State Workforce Board) during their annual convening event. The award recognized the County's "Reimagining Our Future" event held on October 20, 2022. The Supervisors are pictured below with Workforce Development Board members Liz Harris-Tuck and Harold Christ, as well as Economic and Workforce Director James Smith and his staff Shannon McHenry and Moriah Robles. Supervisor Miller introduced HRH. Amir Osman Bin Ahmed, King of Fulani Ashanti Region of Ghana, Amir Fulbe Palace, for the purpose of a sister county partnership, with the aim of promoting and identifying themes common to both that can generate new initiatives to further and nurture priorities relevant to Fulani Ashanti Region of Ghana and Pinal County. The Board recognized five employees for length of service to the County. Raquel Medina, a Software Application Developer from IT, and Chris Revoir, a Detention Officer in the Sheriff's Office, are both celebrating 20 years. Reaching the 25-year milestone are Casa Grande Justice Court Clerk Cynthia Reyes, John Flumerfelt, Building Inspector from Community Development, and Celeste Youtsey, Legal Assistant Senior from the County Attorney's Office. Raquel, Celeste, John, and Chris are pictured with the Board of Supervisors, as well as IT Director Robert Stanley and Community Development Director Brent Billingsley. After the meeting, the Board held an Oath of Office Ceremony for four of the six Pinal County Constables, who were all re-elected into office in November. Pictured below are Ted Gremmel, Precinct 6, Apache Junction Justice Court; Mike Sloan, Precinct 5, Copper Corridor Justice Court; Scott Elliott, Precinct 2, Casa Grande Justice Court; and Glenn Morrison, Precinct 4, Western Pinal Justice Court. Mal Osgood, Precinct 1, Pioneer Justice Court, and David Irvin, Precinct 3, Central Pinal Justice Court, were not able to attend the ceremony.
