Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes during an election? Or perhaps you're curious about the inner workings of our democracy? Maybe you're just eager to meet fellow Pinal County neighbors? Well, we've got the perfect opportunity for you – become a Pinal County Poll Worker!
Why Become a Poll Worker?First off, Poll workers are basically the superheroes of the election world. You're not only ensuring the democratic process runs smoothly, but you're also meeting your community members and playing a crucial part in making their voices heard.
The Basics of Being a Pinal Poll SuperheroWith about 100 polling locations scattered around our beloved county, we need dedicated individuals to staff these crucial sites. Besides the immeasurable sense of civic duty you'll feel, you'll also receive a stipend for your training, time, and travel. Plus, there's a pro-tip for you: You might want to hop onto the Active Early Voter List (AEVL) to grab your early ballot by mail. Why? Because as a poll worker, you might not be stationed at your usual voting spot.
Ready to Suit Up? Here's What You Need:- Be a registered voter in Pinal County (the only exception here is for our enthusiastic students).
- Attend the can't-miss, (possibly) Oscar-worthy mandatory election training sessions.
- Maintain a non-political stance during your poll work duty. Think Switzerland.
- Keep us in the loop with your latest contact information.
- Be ready to commit to an election day marathon of approximately 15 hours (snack breaks included!).
- Always, always, serve our voters with courtesy, speed, and understanding.
For our young democracy enthusiasts eager to jump into the action, there's a special spot for student poll workers too! Just be at least 16 by the time of the election, get permission from your guardians (they'll be super proud, we promise), and ensure you're supervised by an adult poll worker. The rest of the qualifications? Same as the ones above. Yes, students, we believe in your superhero abilities too!
Your Super Duties on Election Day:- Team up to set up (and later pack up) the polling place and equipment.
- Warmly welcome voters and guide them through the voting process.
- Guard those ballots like they're the crown jewels and ensure their security.
- Adhere to the highest standards of election integrity by following all set guidelines and procedures.
And of course, we wouldn't throw you into the election arena unprepared! Selected poll workers will undergo a mandatory training session. This isn't just any training, folks. You'll delve deep into the nuances of the election process, get to know the laws, learn about the different ballots and voting equipment, and much more. And the cherry on top? You get paid for the training, as long as you work on Election Day.
